Port Blair, Jan 30: Mr. Tapan Kumar Bepari, CPI (M) Andaman State Secretariat Member died today at GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair. He was 62 years.
He was one of the tallest leaders of CPI (M) in the islands and had contested the Lok Sabha election from A & N Islands in 1989, 1991, 1996, 1998 and 2004 as CPI (M) candidate. A resident of Harinagar Village in Billiground, Middle Andaman, Tapan Bepari, after his school and college education in the islands, did his Law degree from Calcutta University. On return from Kolkata, he was in the forefront in organizing the people particularly farmers of North and Middle Andaman.
A leading lawyer of Mayabunder courts, Tapan Bepari was helpful to poor litigants of North and Middle Andaman areas. The working class in the islands lost a sincere and honest leader.
The Andaman and Nicobar State Committee of CITU has deeply mourned the sudden demise of Mr. Tapan Kumar Bepari. “CITU dips its red flag in memory of Comrade Tapan Bepari,” a release from CITU said here today. His body will be taken to his native place at Billiground on 31st January, 2020 morning.
