Port Blair, Jan 30: In a written communication once again to the Lt.Governor the Chairperson PBMC Shri. N.K.Udhaya Kumar has stated that due to non-availability of quarry products the Civic Body is not in a position to carry out the developmental activities in the Municipal Limits. Near about 1000 labours are kept idle and are being paid without any works. The main components of developmental works includes urban amenities, construction of roads, footpaths, drains retaining walls , Community halls, Markets , implementation of Smart City project apart from maintaining 64 Kms of roads within the Municipal Limits. Due to lack of quarry products all the works are stagnated. The Civic Chief has requested the Administrator to intervene in the matter and direct the official concerned to issue the required quarry products to the Port Blair Municipal Council at the earliest so that the Civic Body can carry out its mandatory works at a brisk pace.
