Port Blair, Dec 17: Though, the registration and permit for petrol auto- rickshaws was issued to 180- 190 applicants recently, and will also be continued in coming future, but the State Transport Department is focusing more towards e- auto rickshaws, said the Director Transport, Dr Navlendra Kumar Singh.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha recently, Dr Navlendra Kumar Singh said that there are several companies trying to set up their e- auto rickshaws brand in the Islands’ market and the department is encouraging all the companies, who are approaching the department in this regard.
“There are 4000 petrol auto- rickshaws in these Islands and thus, it cannot be banned suddenly and if people like the service of e- auto rickshaws then automatically the petrol auto- rickshaw drivers will shift themselves to e- auto rickshaws,” he said.
However, a large number of people doubt how successful local companies of e- auto rickshaws will in Andaman as many trials in recent past have failed in Andaman. Unwanted pressure from Administration might result is total loss to local youths.
It is high time for the Transport Department to find out some prominent and reputed e- auto rickshaws companies in Mainland India and invite them to Andaman so that public get better service, e- auto rickshaws owners get good profit and Andaman gets a green future and everybody remain happy.
