Port Blair, Dec 17: The Non Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, A&N Islands demanded immediate payment of salary to employees working under the centrally sponsored scheme ATMA. In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration the General Secretary of the Association, Shri. T S Sreekumar, expressed disappointment and surprise on non-payment of salary for the last nine months to these meagerly paid employees. Inviting the attention of the Chief Secretary to the miserable condition of ATMA employees he said these employees are playing an important role in disseminating technology and knowledge among farmers.
They are also coordinating the activities of various departments like Agriculture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Forest in agricultural front. Their contribution in effective implementation of various National Level Schemes PM-KISAN, PM-SHRAM YOGI MAANDHAN YOJANA, etc also laudable.
In this situation nonpayment of salary to these hapless employees from March, 2019 onwards is disheartening and is surely dampening their spirit. The General Secretary of the Association, therefore, requested the Chief Secretary’s intervention for the early payment of salary and its arrears to ATMA employees.
