Campbell Bay, Dec 05: Most of the residents of Campbell Bay have started skipping onion from there dishes as the price has touched skies and are not in the budget of a common man. Andaman Sheekha learnt that the price of Onion at Campbell Bay has reached to Rs 150 per kilogram and is expected to increase even more in the coming days.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the shopkeepers of Campbell bay said that they are helpless and can’t do anything. “Suppliers are charging Rs 6000 per bag and the transportation is very costly and also, half the onion gets spoil during the time of transportation from port Blair to Campbell Bay.
Crying with tears few residents especially housewives told Andaman Sheekha that they are expecting the administration to interfere and help them, so that they may not find difficulty to purchase a basic food item that is needed in most of the dishes for cooking.
