Port Blair, Dec 05: MV Hornbill, which is being operated in foreshore sector, today grounded near Shore Point area and got struck over rock formation, after drifting for sometimes due to engine failure.
The vessel reportedly left Phoenix Bay Jetty at 7.00 AM and the incident took place at around 8.00 AM.
As per details there were ten passengers onboard when this incident took place. As soon as the information was passed to PS Bambooflat, the team of PS Bambooflat under the leadership of the SHO SI K. Illangovan swung into action and intimated the Police Marine Force. The PMF boat reportedly rescued four passengers, while DSS Vessel MV Saddle rescued other six. The grounded vessel was later pulled out of rock by a Tug vessel.
