Port Blair, Sep 02: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC, advocating for the unemployed youths of these islands has written a letter to the Lt Governor wherein he has stated that there are total forty one posts of Panchayat Secretary lying vacant in various Panchayats. Due to non- positioning of Secretaries, the Panchayat Pradhans are facing acute administrative problems to run their respective offices smoothly.
Mr. Sharma has further stated that the youths of these islands had to face two lull period in succession i.e. one after the Tsunami of December, 2004 followed by the time taken by the departments in amending the recruitment rules necessitated due to implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission.
This long waiting of over eight years has rendered many aspiring youth age barred for government jobs. Hence, Mr. Sharma has requested to the Lt Governor to fill up of these vacant posts with the eligible candidates from Employment exchange to enable the local unemployed youths to get employment who are struggling hard for their livelihood.
