Port Blair, Oct 29: The Students of 02nd Year (MBBS) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS) has been sensitized on Disaster Management & Preparedness on 29.10.2019 at Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration.
Shri Deen Mohammed, Safety Officer, DM interacted with the students and briefed about the various types of disasters. During his presentation he elaborated the vulnerability profile of this UT and Islands which are highly susceptible to disasters of varied intensities, though we cannot prevent these natural phenomenon but definitely with a holistic and a meticulous approach & plan we could mitigate the impact. Simultaneously he explained preparedness mechanism and functions of Disaster Management and State Emergency Operation Centre and about the Emergency Communication System of this UT and practically demonstrated the communication equipments and its functions in State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).
