Port Blair, Oct 16: Mr. N.K.Udhaya Kumar, Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council today met Mr. V. Candavelou, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (PWD) and discussed various issues pertains to developmental activities being undertaken by the Port Blair Municipal Council. The Civic Chief mainly discussed about the poor condition of main road leading towards Chatham. During the past heavy rain the road leading to Chatham damaged badly and the general public finds it very difficult to move smoothly especially light vehicle drivers. The Civic Chief requested the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (PWD)) to take up the road works immediately.
The Civic Chief also discussed the issue of construction of a major drain at W.No:16 (School line area). He briefed that it is a long pending demand of the populace of that area for construction of a drain at that area as during heavy rain water enters into their houses causing damages to their belongings. If a drain is constructed in that area, then overflow of rain water on roads and its adjoining areas can be arrested to some extent.
After patience hearing on all the issues raised by the Civic Chief, the Secretary (PW) assured to look into all the issues and take up the works in the larger public interest.
