Port Blair, Sept 11: The Bhartiya Janta Party organised ‘Kanya Pujan’ under the ”Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” campaign to highlight the importance of daughters and change the mindset of society.
In this regard Bhartiya Janta Party organized Kanya Pujan at Saraswati Sishu Mandir School on Friday at 10:30 am . Spiritual Leaders Chinmaya Mission Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati, Bhramha kumari sisters, Dr. Poonam Arorra ,Chairperson of Social welfare were special Invitees.
Archana Harsey,Usha Krishnamoorthi,Anand, Geetha Kandasamy, Roopa Lall are the Committee members of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
Programme started with Kanya Pujan and more than 100 girls participated on this function. Mrs. Poonam Arora handed over chocolates and gifts to children during Kanya Puja followed by the bhog prashad which was distributed for 450 children.
Mrs. Poonam Arora interacted with the children and she started to explain the power and value of girl child.
Chinmaya Mission Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati taught children how to stay healthy and wealthy. According to our Hindu mythology, Kanya Pujan has great importance. Although Hinduism says that God resides in every child but young girls are especially believed to be a form of Goddess Durga, said Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati .
