Port Blair, Oct 03: IQRA Public School, Wimberlygunj, South Andaman coinciding with the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi organized a mass public awareness campaign on “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Water Conservation and curbing usage of Single Use Plastics”.
A rally starting from the school campus carrying banners and posters on the importance of cleanliness, water conservation and creating awareness on minimizing usage of single use plastic was took out by the students and teachers of the school.
The rally was followed by Nukkad Nataks by the Junior and Senior groups of the school at Wimberlygunj Auto Stand. A large gathering of general public witnessed the programme. The messages conveyed by the students on “Swachhta” was well received by the audience. The senior group beautifully depicted the importance of cleanliness in our day to day life. The issues pertaining to water conservations, misuse of water resources as well as restricting the usage of single use plastics which is clogging our water resources was strongly communicated. The tiny tots of junior group through their thoughtful dialogues enthralled the audience and made them realize the importance of “Swachhta”. The program was widely appreciated by the general public of the region.
