Port Blair, Oct 03: In the recent developments by the PMO on the “Look East Policy” the Country Heads of India and Indonesia have felicitated the trade between the two countries by providing considerable relaxation on duties and taxes on a huge array of products. In an attempt to encourage this Youth Chamber of Commerce and Industries organsied an Investors meet on 3rd October with Aceh Chamber of Commerce to understand and start trade relations.
Investors and stake holders from all industries were present to capitalize on the opportunity. Especially Stakeholders of the Construction Industry expressed their keen interest to import stone Aggregates, given the current ban on mining in our islands. “Even though talks have been going on for more than a year, but effective trading between the countries hasn’t started, demographically Aceh region of Indonesia being just 150 miles from Campbell Bay, we want to take this to the advantage of our Andaman Islands and make it the gateway to mainland India” said President YCCI, Mr. Tanveer Singh.
Invitation to visit Indonesia with the YCCI delegation was given by Vice Chairman of Aceh Chamber of Commerce, Mr Radi Dharmansiyah and he expressed gratitude to YCCI to help channelize the Bilateral trade between India and Indonesia.
