Port Blair, Sept 25: In order to promote Road Safety a meeting was convened by Shri. Ajay Kumar Rai, DANIPS, Dy. SP (Traffic) with the association of Private Bus Drivers at PS Aberdeen Conference Hall. A total 62 drivers were present in the meeting. They were sensitised on traffic rules and regulations and were also familiarised with the New Motor Vehicle Amendment Act, 2019 which will be implemented soon in these islands.
Road Safety lectures were also delivered at Baratang, Kadamtala and Rangat areas. School students, Public Service Vehicle Drivers and general public (560) attended the lecture and were educated on traffic rules and regulations and also familiarised with the New Motor Vehicle Amendment Act, 2019.
During the meeting and lecture, the attendees were cautioned to be more careful and follow the traffic rules and regulations for their own as well as for general public safety and also requested to post a clear photo/video of erring drivers/rider violating traffic rules with registration number of vehicle, date, time and location of violation on A&NI Traffic Police phone/landline number or sites for initiating further legal action.
