Port Blair, Sept 06: Teachers’ Day was celebrated in RGT Public Vidyalaya with fervour and gaiety. The pupil teachers took classes in the morning. A colourful programme was organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President of India Dr. S. Rahdhakrishnan. The programme began with the garlanding of portrait of S. Rahdhakrishnan. Retired vice principal education department and national awardee Ms. Nirmala Wati was the chief guest on the occasion. In her address she called upon the students to follow the path of their teachers who are their role models, mentors and felicitators as this would certainly help them to become better citizens. She also urged the teachers to put in their best in shaping the caliber, character and future of individual as they are the nation builders. The chief guest also gave away the prizes to the winners of various competition held as part of the occasion. Earlier the principal welcomed the gathering. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by the head mistress.
