Port Blair, Sept 01: On Friday evening a tree fell on a house, situated near Kali Mandir, Humpherygunj, causing huge damages. According to the house owners they were fearing such accident as a contractor of APWD after constructing retaining wall near their house, did not fill earth into the gap, making the area susceptible to land sliding. As per the house owner they have been requesting the contractor to fill earth in gap since last 4-5 months.
Finally on Friday evening a huge jackfruit tree, situated on the edge of the land sliding area, fell on the house after it was uprooted. The house owner has meanwhile complained this matter to Humpherygunj Police Station and the Pradhan of the village has also demanded action in this matter as the accident, according to her, happened due to negligence.
