Port Blair, Aug 26: Employees of MGNREGA, who are staging indefinite hunger strike at Tiranga Park since 19 August 2019, have now decided not to take medical assistance from today. In last few days it has been observed that several protesting participants have been shifted to G B Pant forcefully by Doctors and police for medical treatment, who later come back to protest site and join the protest. Talking to Andaman Sheekha two lady protesters have pledged not to drink even water from today.
Several leaders have already visited the protest site and tried to mediate between them and Administration but till now all efforts have failed because no concrete decision has been taken yet.
Meanwhile, the employees of MGNREGA told Andaman Sheekha that the indefinite Hunger Strike will continue till they get justice. The employees are demanding enhancement of their wages which has not been increased since June 2012.
