Port Blair, Aug 23: A protest was organized by Cargo Truck Drivers and Owners today at the Parking area infront of ASI Building. The Truck Drivers and Owners were protesting against imposing challan and cancelling driving license for carrying labourers in Cargo Trucks. They said that for every work labourers are important and it is not possible for labourers to travel by auto or bus.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Anusuiya Devi the Chairperson of PBMC visited the protesting area and spoke to the Truck Drivers and Owners. Later she took a delegation of protesting people to the Secretary to Transport from where after getting positive assurance the protest was withdrawn.
