Port Blair, Aug 06 The Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which have been experiencing heavy squally weather for strong south west monsoon in various parts of South as well as North and Middle Andaman, have hoisted Local Cautionary signal No III kept hoisted at Port Blair Port.
A weather warning from Meteorological Office, Port Blair today said that latest observations and satellite imageries indicate that a Depression has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha – West Bengal coasts.
“It is very likely to intensify into a Deep Depression during next 24 hours and likely to move west northwestwards across Odisha – West Bengal coasts during next 48 hours,” the weather warning added.
The warning added that due to likely squally weather for strong south west monsoon current sea condition be rough to very rough along and off Andaman and Nicobar coast.
Meanwhile, fishermen of Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been advised not to venture into the sea for next 48 hours.
Here, several Islands of North and Middle Andaman are experiencing gusty wind, which resulted in uprooting of tree in some places and snapping of power lines. Some parts of Middle Andaman are witnessing several hour long power cuts after collapse of a few electric poles, due to high wind.
