Port Blair, Aug 01: The Zonal Fisheries Office, South Andaman organised an awareness programme at Panchayat Bhawan Hall, Shoal Bay recently in the presence of the Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Shoal Bay to highlight the various subsidy/ welfare schemes of the Blue Revolution, RashtriyaKisanVikasYojana (RKVY) and UT Plan schemes implemented for the benefit of the fishers by the Fisheries Department. About 34 fishermen/fish farmers attended the programme.
Shri. PK Moideen, superintendent of Fisheries, Ferrargunj explained in detail about the availability of subsidy under Blue Revolution, RKVY and UT Plan Scheme for the fishermen to acquire inputs like Motorised/ Mechanised fishing boats, Deep Freezers, Ice Boxes, FRP boats, inboard/ outboard engines, insulated trucks, auto rikshaws, moped with ice box, safety equipment, assistance for deep sea fishing vessel and Group Accident schemes.
The fishers were advised to carry biometric identity cards/ fishermen identity cards, proper identification documents and safety equipment while venturing into sea for fishing and they have further advised not to enter into prohibited/ wildlife protected and tribal reserve areas.
