Port Blair, Aug 01: The Assistant Commissioner Nancowry, Shri Vinay Kumar Jindal conducted Marathon for Women at Teressa Island under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme. Ms. Susmita, Ms. Sumitra and Ms. Laveena, stood first, second and third position.
Coconut Climbing Competition was also conducted for women at Kuitasuk Village, Chowra Island. Smt. Levina Andrew, Smt. Judith Harry and Smt. Sifra Jeremiah, stood first, second and third position.
The Assistant Commissioner appreciated the efforts and enthusiasm shown by the participants in the unique sport event of Chowra Island i.e. Coconut Climbing by the Women. Chairperson of Tribal Council Chowra and Teressa, Village Headmen of Chowra and Teressa along with large gathering witnessed the events.
At the end, the Assistant Commissioner, Nancowry felicitated the winners of both the events by awarding trophies.
