Port Blair, July 30: A massive rally was organised by the NSS units of JNRM on 29th July 19 with an aim to create awareness on water conservation with the messages on the concepts of” Jal Shakti Abhiyaan”, a flagship scheme of Govt. of India to conserve water. Around 250 NSS Volunteers, NCC Cadets and NYK members participated in the rally. The rally was flagged off from JNRM Golden Jubilee Gate by Principal JNRM Dr N. Francis Xavier.
The rally passing through the thoroughfares of the city via important landmarks Andaman Club, Clock tower, Model School and Bengali club culminated at JNRM. The participants took a pledge administered by the Principal to save water, and take efforts to conserve water in their respective Hostels, villages and towns.
Dr Kandimuthu, Assistant Professor & Programme officer NSS Unit-1 coordinated the programme and spoke on the importance of water conservation and the Jal Shakti Abhiyan of the Govt.of India.
NSS Programme officers Dr.K.Venkatesan, Dr.S.K.Jha, Dr.V K Sahu, NCC Officer, Dr.C.Parthiban and District Youth Coordinator NYK, Mr Tariq Shah also participated in the rally.
JNRM NSS unit Celebrates Vanmahotsav
Port Blair, July 30: National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit No.1organised a Tree plantation programme in JNRM campus on 28th July 2019and celebrated the Vanmahotsav festival. NSS volunteers of unit-1 like every year this year also pledged for keeping the campus clean and green. They also cleaned and strengthened the tree guards erected in the earlier tree plantation programmes conducted in the campus.
Dr.Kandimuthu, Assistant Professor Programme& officer coordinated the programme and Planted saplings along with the volunteers. He also spoke on the importance of green vegetation in the surroundings and how as an NSS Volunteer one can contribute to this celebration of Vanmahotsav festival and motivate the youth to take-up social responsibilities. Dr N. Francis Xavier Principal, JNRMappreciated the NSS Unit and Volunteers, for organising the tree plantation programme in the Campus.
