Port Blair, Aug 22: An “open to all volley ball tourney” was organized by the National Students’ Union of India, as a part of the celebration of the above programme on 19th August, 2012 at the premises of Gandhi Bhavan. Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC was the chief guest on the occasion.
On 20th August, 2012, as a part of the ceremony of the Former Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi’s birth Anniversary, Mr. Sharma awarded various trophies to the winners of the tourney.
Fisherman Colony Youth Club, Junglighat was awarded with the Rajiv Gandhi Rolling trophy as first prize while the runner up cup was awarded to Lee Boy Youth Club, Haddo. Mr. Samir Ali was adjudged as the best player of the series.
On the occasion Mr. Sharma told the gatherings that these types of outdoor games always boost our health and healthy body and strengthens our brain. Games also teach people the art of accepting challenge very sportingly.
Addressing and motivating the girl students, Mr. Sharma told that, girls are no less than the boys, in every sectors of our society, girls have proved their ability so they should also have their teams for football and volleyball etc and he will like to see them participating on such events in future.
