Campbell Bay, July 11: Troubled by the growing number of accidents due to stray animals, the Gram Panchayat of Campbell Bay has taken steps to tag the stray animals. This is being down with the active support of Veterinary Department.
The tagging work has begun from Indira Nagar and Babu Lane area of Campbell Bay. Taking to Andaman Sheekha the Pradhan of Gram Panchayat of Campbell Bay, Mr. K Raja said that tagging will help to control the cattle menace as it will now be easy to identify the cattle. The remote Panchayat is perhaps doing better jobs than many other Panchayats in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Even in South Andaman in places like Caddle Gunj, because of Cattle menace many accidents are taking place frequently.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that Chouldari Gram Panchayat has also started maintaining diary about stray cattle, which is again another unique way to identify cattle. Hope other Panchayats will learn from Gram Panchayats of Campbell Bay and Chouldari.
