Rangat, July 07: Department of Environment & Forests Middle Andaman Forest Division on 06 July celebrated 70th VAN MAHOTSAV, during which “Ceremonial Tree Planting” was done at Jawaharlal Navodya Vidyalaya, Panchwati at 9.30 AM.
Mr. Awanish Kumar IAS, Deputy Commissioner N & M Andaman was the Chief Guest of the occasion and Mrs. Serophina Kujur, Pramukh Rangat was the Guest of Honour. On the arrival of the Chief Guest the NCC Cadets, Scout and guides of JNV Panchwati paid Guard of honour. The Chief guest ,Guest of honour, DFO, ACF, Rangat, Principal JNV Planted Rudraksh Tree in JNV Campus.
DCN & M Andaman being the Chairman of the JNV, he closely inspected the school and advised the JNV, Principal to do improvement of all the shortcomings of the school. DC expressed unhappiness while he learnt that in JNV there is no arrangement for providing purified waters to the students.
Not only that the Principal informed the DC that there is shortage of toilet Block at JNV. DC directed the Pradhan Sivapuram to make arrangement for contrctuion of toilet blocks at JNV immediately.
The DC, further directed to the concerned AE, APWD to make necessary steps for repair and maintenance of buildings and etc.
A ceremonial cultural function also organised by the Forest Department in association with the JNV students. DC, on the occasion told the students on the importance of the planting trees and protecting trees for the environment. Mr. Paul DFO, Rangat also highlighted the importance of the celebration of VAN MAHOTSAV.
