Port Blair, Jun 17: A& N Islands Private Practicing Doctors Association had shut down all OPD services at Clinics and Hospitals in Port Blair today (17/6/19) in the morning for two hours and assembled at G.B Pant Hospital OPD complex and wore black badges, symbolising protest.
Later in the evening they attended the rally jointly organized by Indian Medical Association, Port Blair branch from G.B Pant Hospital to Clock tower and back due to the recent mob brutal assault on Dr. Paribaha Mukerjee of NRS Medical College, Kolkata in solidarity with medical professionals across the country. However all emergency services were attended.
In the protest they demanded a central rule should be there, so that such brutal attacks won’t happen again in future and stringent punishment should be given to them who resort to such brutal attacks. They also demanded for Safety of doctors while they are on duty, in a release General Secretary, ANIPPDA said.
