
Port Blair, May 06: Director General Indian Coast Guard, Rajendra Singh, PTM, TM is on two day visit to Port Blair for review of Coast Guard Infrastructure and operational readiness to undertake CG Charter in the AOR of Andaman & Nicobar. The Flag officer was given overview on operations and strategic aspect at Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (A &N). DGICG along with Mrs Urmila Singh, President Tatrakshika also inaugurated CG Jetty Extension (Total Length – 321 Mtrs) and 03-lane slipway projects at CG wharf on 06 May 19 in presence of Inspector General MV Pathak, Commander Coast Guard Region (A & N). The Flag officer while addressing Officers and men of Indian Coast Guard apprised of the ongoing policy reviews and upcoming development in terms of Infrastructure, augmentation of fleet, international relations in the years to come.
To counter the ever growing challenges, Coast Guard during the past decade had exponentially cranked up in terms of Infrastructure development and induction of new platforms under reigns of the Flag Officer. Towards sustained efficacy of maritime operations in AOR of Isles, Cost Guard has based 02 offshore patrol vessels, 08 Fast Patrol Vessels, 04 Interceptor Boats and 02 Fuel Barges increasing the urge for immediate expansion of Infrastructure for berthing and maintenance. The extension of jetty will facilitate berthing of present strength of ships and pave way for further strengthening of the Coast Guard fleet in Andamans.
