Port Blair, May 05: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways recently gave mandate to NHIDCL to prepare DPR for Chatham-Bambooflat Bridge following which the work of preparing DPR was awarded to an agency VKS and the agency was given six month deadline. As per details, the firm, VKS has already started the work for completing the DPR and survey works are almost over.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Manoj Kumar Verma, General Manager, NHIDCL, A&N Islands has said that the NHIDCL is expecting that the work of preparing the DPR for the bridge will be completed within three months.
He said that cost of preparing DPR is close to Rs. 4.5 crore.
“Alignment and span arrangement of the bridge has been finalized. We are hoping that the DPR works will be over in next three months and once the DPR prepared the budget will also be finalized,” Mr. Verma added.
He said that at present the projected cost of the bridge is close to Rs 850 crores, which is tentative.
Mr. Verma said that after DPR, if Ministry gives mandate to NHIDCL to construct this bridge, NHIDCL will be ready for this task.
“It will take another three years to construct this bridge. This task won’t take less than three years,” he said.
