Port Blair, May 03: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Andaman and Nicobar Telecom Circle today announced launching of new Broadband service i.e. FTTH services also known as Bharat Fiber.
Addressing a press conference today Mr. V Jagadeesan , ITS, Chief General Manager, A&N Telecom Circle said that main objective of Bharat Fiber will be to provide high quality Data & Voice services to the customers by extending the fiber upto the customer premises.
In A & N islands many places our broadband services are not feasible due to non availability of copper cable, and considering, BSNL has executed a business with local cable operators (LCOs) as our channel partners for extending the Data.
This is the first such FTTH / Bharat Fiber service the local Cable TV services available in almost all households in A&N Voice services to these potential deployment in A&N Islands.
Since the Bharat Fiber services are provided on optical fiber right upto the customer premises reliability and better quality of services to the customers are assured, however due to limitation in satellite bandwidth there will not be appreciable difference in speed.
Considering the prime objective to provide Data/ voice services to every household in A & N islands, BSNL A & N Telecom Circle has entered into a business partnership with Two Cable Operators in South Andaman area ie M/s Guru Enterprise and M/s Island Data Solutions Pvt Ltd to start with Presently both data and voice services will be available under Bharat Fiber service.
Every customer will be having one unique telephone Number Initially four numbers of Circle specific Limited usage combo FTTH plans (Rs 799/ 4 GB, 1899/ 25 Gb, 3999/80 GB & 7999 /225 GB) will be available to the customers.
All these plans will be having free unlimited voice calling facility upto national level (STD) Currently FTTH Plans available in other BSNL circles will not be applicable to customers of A & N Circle till the Submarine Cable from Chennai is commissioned, he added.
General customer can approach their respective LCO for getting the new connections. We have plans to roll out the services in other parts of A&N Islands by entering into such business partnership with the respective local Cable TV operators.
WINGS is an Internet telephony by BSNL offering unlimited voice calls to any network. Unlike whatsapp call, from WINGS, we can make calls to any landline or mobile number ie the called party doesn’t require any Internet.
(Only WINGS number require Internet to make or receive call) WINGS connection is ideal for customers in North and Middle Andaman and in standalone islands for making normal calls through broadband, which remains operational during OFC/satellite failure to Port Blair (The Mobile services and Landline services remain non operational from these places during this WINGS connection is also useful for all broadband customers who have less/No mobile indoor coverage customers can use Wings (through Wifi) for receiving and making calls .
For all BSNL customers one month free trial of wings is available, and can be availed from any BSNL CSC by submitting normal mobile application form. Subsequently customers can opt Monthly plan for which the monthly charges will be Rs 98/ plus GST. Option for yearly payment is also available at just Rs 1099/- plus GST.
For government servants, the same will be at a discounted rate of just Rs 599/ plus For ISD and international roaming, a refundable security deposit of Rs 2000/-along with a request of ISD /IR is to be submitted at the CSC. Wings customers on international roaming, can receive calls from India absolutely free and can make calls to India at cheapest rate @1 203/min. Mr. Rahul Rahani, GM, Consumer Fix Access, Mr. R.
