Port Blair, Apr 23: Andaman and Nicobar police has once again arrested one more person with contraband tablets. According to details yesterday Andaman and Nicobar Police arrested one more person, namely Shiva, for possessing around 500 contraband tablets and four bottles of cough syrup (containing codeine).
Earlier on 21st April, a team of PS Aberdeen had registered a case of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 and arrested a person Dharmender Singh with 6810 tablets of psychotropic substance.
Sources told Andaman Sheekha that Shiva was the main distributor who used to bring several KGs of tablets from Kolkata and sell those tablets to agents like Dharmender.
“The accused wanted to sell the tablets to students. We had arrested him earlier as well,” a senior police officer told Andaman Sheekha today.
Consumption of tablets of psychotropic substance for a kick is not a new thing in Andaman but seizure of such huge number of drugs, which are usually not available in ordinary Pharmacies, is a big concern.
