Port Blair, Apr 08: A college student named Priyanka, resident of Bambooflat, 18 years old, fell into the sea from the ramp of a vehicle ferry this afternoon.
According to sources, Priyanka was heading back to Bambooflat after finishing her college for the day. At around 1415 hrs while boarding the vehicle ferry, she lost her balance and fell into the sea.
Seeing the girl in distress, two fellow passengers, Mr. Mohammed Anis and Mr. Gafoor Khan jumped into the sea without a moment of hesitation and rescued the girl.
At the time of incident, the sea was little rough so they had to balance themselves with the victim until the crew of the ferry threw a lifebuoy and with the help of a rope they were pulled back. The courage shown by these two youths is praiseworthy and motivating.
As per sources Mr. Mohammed Anis is a Police Constable, posted at PS Chatham and Mr. Gafoor Khan is a MES staff, they were heading back to their respective homes after their shift.
