Port Blair, Mar 29: Andaman & Nicobar police solved a murder case within 10 hours and arrested two accused namely Shubhankar Ghosh and Debashish Roy along with recovery of case property. In this regard Mr. Dependra Pathak, DGP, A & Ń Island called a press conference and shared details about this case.
According to the DGP on 28/03/19, information was received at Police Control Room over phone regarding death of two ladies at DAMRO Furniture Showroom Middle Point.
The DGP said that immediately police swung into action and rushed to the spot. In this regard, a case of murder vide FIR No. 199/19 dated 28/03/19 u/s 302 IPC was registered at PS Aberdeen and the investigation was taken up by SHO Aberdeen, Inspector Sanjay Kumar.
“Soon after the registration of the case, multiple investigation teams were formed to crack the case and arrest the accused persons. Various teams under the supervision of Insp. Sanjay Kumar led by SI Jeevan, SI Dev Raju and ASI Sanjay Yadav from PS Aberdeen, ASI Radha Krishnan with other staff from PS Pahargaon, SI Manoj Lall and other staff from PS Chatham, Insp. D. Jagdishwar Rao and other staff from Special Branch and Insp. Mahesh Yadav and other staff from Central Crime Station were formed and a massive hunt for the accused persons was launched,” the DGP added.
During the course of investigation, information from the local sources was collected and all the CCTV cameras of the area were checked. During the investigation the accused persons were identified as Shubhankar Ghosh 21 yrs r/o Garacharma and Debasis Roy 22 yrs r/o Garacharma.
The Police teams made all relentless efforts to nab the accused person and conducted a massive search in the Port Blair area, involving more than 100 police personnel from all the units and finally at late night the Police team nabbed both the accused persons.
During the interrogation, the accused persons confessed to their crime and disclosed the sequence of events. During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused Shubhankar is an ex-staff of the DAMRO Showroom and committed the offence with the intention of “Robbery’. He and the other accused Debashish entered the showroom with all preparation to commit robbery. In order to commit robbery, they killed the two lady staffs, who were already present in the showroom and escaped from there with some cash. The investigation of the case is in progress.
The whole investigation took place under the overall guidance of Director General of Police assisted by IGP/L&o, IGP/HQ, SP/CID and the on ground execution was carried out by SP(D) South Andaman Mr. Deepak Yadav, IPS, SDPO/SA Mr. Nishant Gupta and SHO Aberdeen, Insp. Sanjay Kumar.
