Port Blair, Mar 25: A tourists from UK, Mr. Atul Lakhani reportedly died at the Elephanta beach of Swaraj Dweep. The reason of the death is still not known, however it is reported that his body was found floating in sea near the coast at Elephanta Beach.
After this incident, he was immediately taken to nearby Hospital at around 12.00 noon and by 12.35 PM he was declared dead by the doctors, pradhan of Govindnagar Panchayat of Swaraj Dweep, Mr. Ajit Kuamr Roy, told Andaman Sheekha.
The body is being brought to Port Blair and Post Mortem will be carried out tomorrow by doctors at G B Pant Hospital, it is learnt.
When contacted the Dy.S.P of Havelock Island refused to give any information regarding this incident. However, he said that investigations are on.
Meanwhile as a knee jerk reaction the Andaman and Nicobar Administration today announced that due to administrative reason, the Elephanta Beach at Swaraj Dweep will be closed for tourist with immediate effect till further order. More details are awaited.
