Port Blair, Mar 19: Dumping of construction materials on the road side and on the road has already been declared illegal by Port Blair Municipal Council long back. But it seems that no one in Port Blair Municipal Council has time to check such illegal activities in city which are causing immense problems for the people of Port Blair city.
Alone in Corbyn’s Cove to Shadipur road, atleast in three places people have dumped construction materials on the road, covering more than half of the road area. Such careless dumping is not only causing traffic disruption but also causing minor accidents.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted Mrs. Protima Banerjee, the Vice Chairperson of PBMC she said that PBMC is already getting many complaints in this regard. “I have spoken to the Building Inspectors in this regard and issued directions to clear roads immediately, wherever such road side dumping of construction materials is found,” Mrs. Protima Banerjee added.
She also appealed to the people who are constructing building to think about convenience of others, especially road users before dumping such materials carelessly on road.
