Port Blair, Mar 12: A new NGO ‘Pankh’ was inaugurated by Smt. Neha Bansal, Secretary, Art and Culture in the supporting presence of Mr. Udit Prakash Rai, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman.
The President of PANKH is Mrs. Komal Anand, an active Social Worker while the General Secretary is Ms. Samhita Veda Acharya, a Happiness Coach.
The inaugural launch was held at Andaman Club with over 55 to 70 ladies from different working women hostels and few local women residents as well.
The special guest for the programme was swami ji from Chinmaya Mission and Mrs Shanta Laxman Singh.
The programme was been hosted by proud members of the NGO Mrs. Plasida Minj and Mrs. Shabeena Ahmed. There were lots of fun activities like Mehendi, Saree draping, a dance workshop led by ace Choreographer Mr. Vijay Bahadur, and Karaoke singing.
The judges were Mrs. Tahira, a teacher from Carmel Sr. Sec. School and Mrs. Rashmi Janak, owner of Gurukul.
The motive of launching the NGO is to give a stress free environment to women every month through such events. The NGO also plans to offer counselling to students, needful for divyang and a help line for working women and housewives and is now gearing up to spread its wings to other islands as well.
