Mayabunder, Mar 11: A press conference was held in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman, Mr. Awanish Kumar, IAS briefed the media persons and asked them to follow the moral code of conduct during the election and also see to that the code of conduct is properly followed. During this time camera surveillance team will also be deployed in order to stop any violations.
The DC also asked the general public to check their names in the voter list and if it is not there register because having a voter identity card doesn’t mean they will be allowed to vote. For any information they can contact the election cell in the DC office. A meeting of the party people were held at 3:00pm in the DC office in which the DC asked for their co-operation for a smooth polling. The last date of filing the nominations will be 25th of March and the notifications will be released on 18th March.
Mr. Awanish Kumar also said that last Lok Sabha election saw a total voting of 70.7% but this year the administration is focused on making it 100%. When asked that if the administration will make any special arrangements for elders to help them in voting the DC replied that the administration will provide vehicles to bring the elderly to the polling booth and after casting their vote they will be dropped back to their residence. The surveillance team will be present on the polling booths on the day of election to avoid any disturbing activities during the polling. If any miscreant is found he will dealt very strictly.
The DC also asked the media persons to create as much awareness as possible for the maximum polling the administration is keeping 100% as their goal. For any further information the media persons or the local people or anyone can contact the election cell in the office and clear their doubts or get information on any topic. The cell will be available for answering the queries of people 24 hours.
