Port Blair, Mar 11: A mild earthquake hit Andaman Islands Region early this morning, the Indian Meteorological Department reported.
According to IMD a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale was noted at 6.44 AM. The earthquake occurred at Andaman Islands Region was at a depth of 95-km.
The Andaman and Nicobar archipelago falls under a high seismic zone. There are no reports of any damage.
