Port Blair, Mar 03: Member of the public are hereby advised to be cautious before posting or forwarding any text, video or audio clip on any social media, website, Whatsapp etc. The message posted by an individual should not have any cause defamation of individuals, hurt religious sentiments, promote enmity between different groups based on race, religion, residence, place of birth, language etc., amount to sedition etc. Any message which falls in any of the above category may render the sender liable for criminal action against him.
Group Administrators have a special responsibility to monitor the posts on their groups and enforce basic etiquettes. In case any message falling in the above category of message is posted in their group, they should bring it to the notice of Police for talking necessary legal action. Members of the public are also advised against rumor mongering and forwarding or posting unverified news, image, audio or video clip with a view to cause panic in the society. Legal action will be taken against those indulging in the same, said Deepak Yadav, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District in a press note.
