Port Blair, Feb 11: The Petroleum Ministry has assured the lone Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands of addition consignment of LPG for remote Andaman Islands, following recent shortage of LPG in these UT.
Presently Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been reeling under severe scarcity of LPG and there is disruption in supply of LPG cylinders to the domestic consumers in various areas of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Following public outrage the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands had taken up the matter seriously and submitted a letter to the Petroleum Ministry in person on 08.02.2019 and requested to expedite the action to ensure the availability of LPGs immediately in Andaman.
In reference to MP’s letter, The Ministry of Petroleum& Natural Gas, GOI informed that due to inclement weather, the shipment of LPG from the overseas was effected & which lead to non-availability of products & disruption in bottling. It has further informed that the vessels containing LPG has already berthed at Port Blair in the afternoon of 06.02.2019 and the bottling operations has been also started to make the distribution of LPG Cylinder to the consumers in all Districts of A & N Islands. The Ministry also ensured for shipment of an additional consignment of LPG shortly for Andaman to full fill the demands. A communiqué received from MP, Office Secretary.
