
Port Blair, Feb 04: The Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray on Sunday flagged off the much awaited mega event Thomas Cook Andaman Marathon from the Cellular Jail amidst fanfare. Mr. Ray later gave away prizes to the winners of the Andaman Marathon as the chief guest in the prize distribution ceremony held at the Netaji Stadium.
In his address on the occasion, the Member of Parliament; Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray appreciated the ACCI for the conduct of the ‘Thomas Cook Andman Marathon-2019’ in a grand manner. Mr. Ray said that Andaman is moving forward on the path to become a ‘New Andaman’ for which youth are ready to contribute to achieve this mission.
The Brand Ambassador Andaman Marathon, Mr. Rahul Bose expressed his happiness to be part of the mega event in A&N Islands. “This is my 15th anniversary in these islands and whenever Andaman Marathon is organised I will be present to cheer and motivate the runners”, said Mr. Bose While the Commander-in-Chief Andaman Nicobar Command, Vice Admiral Bimal Verma said that Andaman Marathon has become very popular and a much awaited event by the Islanders and others.
Proposing vote of thanks, the ACCI President, Mr. Girish Arora thanked all the sponsors especially ‘Thomas Cook’ for making the event a grand success. He also thanked the A&N Administration, Department of Education, Sports, Police and Health, ACCI members and print & electronic media for their unflinching support in the smooth conduct of the event. Mr. Arora informed that more than 1600 participants from both Island and mainland participated in the ‘Thomas Cook Andaman Marathon’-2019 and the total prize for the event was Rs. 8.7 lakh this year.
Mr. Abhijeet Agarwal, member of ACCI Co-ordinated the entire prize distribution ceremony at Netaji Stadium.
