Port Blair, Jan 31: ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute conducted an awareness programme on National Surveillance Programme for (NSPAAD) at Sawai Village, Car Nicobar on 29-01-2019. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. A. Kundu, Director, ICAR-CIARI and inaugurated by Mr. Michael, Sub Inspector of Fisheries, Car Nicobar as the chief guest. In his address, he appreciated the efforts of ICAR-CIARI in fisheries and agriculture allied areas for the betterment of tribal population.
Aquatic animal disease surveillance and health management aspects were explained to the fishers by the experts. Besides, folders and leaflets on aquatic animal health management were distributed for the benefit of stakeholders. The programme was organised under the NSPAAD project by Dr. B. Gangaiah and Dr. K. Saravanan from ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair along with Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh and Mr. Mohamed Sarief from KVK, Car Nicobar. A total of 18 active fishers from various villages of Car Nicobar were participated in the programme, a communiqué by S.K. Zamir Ahmed, ICAR-CIARI said here.
