Port Blair, Jan 31 : Navy Children School (NCS), Port Blair celebrated its Twentieth Annual Sports Day today at Netaji Stadium. The sports event was inaugurated by the Guest of Honour, Commodore Ashutosh Ridhorkar, VSM, Naval Component Commander, and Chairman NCS, Port Blair.
The ceremony included display of drills by tiny tots and the senior children that kept the audience spell bound. Boogie woo with Bamboo (a special drill), Sizzling Warriors (drill by primary school students), Tap our Clap and Swing with the Ring dance form displayed spectacular formations while yoga postures also inspired values of discipline. Fun with Aerobics and a Fusion performance displayed vigour and vitality.
Thereafter, various athletic events like 400/200 metres race, relays, long jump etc were conducted. The program also included fun races like Bursting the Balloons, Book Balancing, Duck Race, Needle and Thread Race, Skipping Race, 3 Legged Race, Lemon and spoon Race, Get ready for School Race etc.
Mrs Smita Ridhorkar, Chairperson, NWWA gave away prizes and medals to all the winners. The event concluded with an address by the Chairman of the School, Cmde Ashutosh Ridhorkar, VSM, as he praised the efforts of the children and the school administration in putting up a worthy performance. He congratulated the winners and encouraged all the participants to always strive for the best.
Earlier on his arrival to the event, Commodore Ridhorkar was presented with a ceremonial Guard of Honour. Thereafter he unfurled the athletic meet flag and lit the ceremonial torch and declared the meet open. The programme was also attended by representatives from Andaman & Nicobar Administration including Director (Education), said in a communiqué received from Nilesh Kumar Kalbhor IIS, Deputy Director(M&C), PIB Port Blair.
