Port Blair, Jan 25: On the occasion of National Voters Day 2019, the District level function was organized in the auditorium of Mahatma Gandhi Govt. College, Mayabunder on 25.01.2019 at 11.00 AM. Mr. Awanish Kumar, IAS, District Election Officer/ Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Mr. Mahesh Kumar Gupta, Assistant Commissioner (HQ), Dr. B. Prabhuram, Principal MGGC, Mayabunder, Mr. Gyan Sheel Dubey, Deputy Education Officer, Mayabunder, Smt. Nachiammal, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Mayabunder, Mr. B.K.Das, AERO/Tehsildar Mayabunder were also present along with Professors and students of the MGG College, Mayabunder. The Chief Guest addressed administered the pledge and addressed the gathering highlighting the importance of voting among the youth for greater participation in the forthcoming Lok Sabha Election so that “No voter is left behind” and emphasized on the importance of “accessible election”.s
The Principal, MGGC, Mayabunder Dr. B. Prabhuram and the Associate Professor (Political Science) Dr. R.V.R Murthy were also emphasized the importance of registration of voters in a participatory democracy.
As a part of SVEEP activity for greater participation amongst the public for enrolment as voters, various programmes and Nukkad Nataks were organized at Netaji Sports Complex, Mayabunder.
Similar programmes were also organized at Rangat & Diglipur Tehsil. Three BLOs were awarded as “Best BLO” in each Tehsil. Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC’s) were also distributed to the new voters on the occassion.
The programme ended with vote of thanks by Mr. Vadivel, Faculty of the college.
