Port Blair, Jan 25: Andaman & Nicobar Police Study Circle – an unique initiative for research, analysis and training in A&N Police was inaugurated today at Police Headquarter, Atlanta Point, Port Blair by Sh. Chetan B Sanghi, IAS Chief Secretary, A&N Islands in the presence of Sh Dependra Pathak IPS DGP, A & N Police and Other senior officers of A&N Police.
Andaman & Nicobar Police Study Circle will strive to advance professionalism in A&N Police, improve the delivery of police services through modern technologies to public, research & policy development, formulation of effective strategies for tackling crime and thereby making the officers effective leaders.
The inaugural session was on the topic: Cybercrime – Issues and Challenges. There was brief introduction of the topic, followed by brainstorming with detailed discussion on each segment. Various scenarios were examined and solutions were suggested for better service delivery and crime detection. This initiative envisages interaction amongst the various ranks of the A&N Police and hence the participation of cutting edge – thana level police officers has been aimed. Also to receive valuable feedback from various stakeholders like intelligentsia, members of public and other civic agencies have been envisaged.
The Chief Secretary congratulated and exalted such an initiative by the Andaman & Nicobar Police and also provided valuable insights in to cybercrime and the need to upgrade the investigation and creating awareness among public. He lauded the concept of Police Study Circle as a platform for devising better Police -Public relations, better public service delivery mechanisms and conceptualization of policing strategies for the A&N Islands and other organization in the country, as said in a press release by Principal, Police Training School, Prothrapur.
