Port Blair, Jan 24: As part of 42nd raising day celebrations, large number of activities related to community service and profiling of ICG charter duties are being organised by Indian Coast Guard.
Indian Coast Guard Ship Vishwast in co-ordination with Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, Port Blair organised an educational visit for orphan children from Ramakrishna Mission, Port Blair on 24 Jan 19 onboard Indian Coast Guard Ship Vishwast at ICG Jetty.
It was a maiden visit by Ramakrishna Mission Orphanage children onboard Indian Coast Guard Ships comprising 34 kids and three monks including secretary Ramakrishna Mission. The visit had provided enabled platform for the kids to learn about Indian Coast Guard operational capabilities and roles very closely. The children were explained about the various roles as well as capabilities of different surface & air assets and their importance in A & N Islands. The students were given insight of Indian Coast Guard, explaining the responsibility of ICG in safe guarding our national interests in coastal waters and during any natural calamities.
Mrs. Mohita Pathak, President, Tatrakshika (A & N) alongwith CGWWA committee members interacted with the children onboard ship. Children were very enthusiastic and expressed their willingness to serve our nation in future as “Guardians”. The visit also included demonstration by water scooter and showcasing of different types of small arms being utilised onboard ships. Further, personnel employed with Indian Coast Guard, who are alumni of Ramakrishna Mission also joined the educational visit and interacted with the children and enhanced their bonding with Indian Coast Guard. The educational visit was concluded after distribution of gifts by Mrs. Mohita Pathak, President, Tatrakshika (A & N) to the children.
