Port Blair, Aug 03: The President, Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma in a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor has apprised him of limited medical facilities available in these islands owing to which a large number of islanders are required to go to the super specialty hospital in mainland for administering treatment which are very expensive.
Hence, he requested the Lt. Governor to extend the facility of free treatment to all islanders whose yearly income is less than Rs. 6 lakhs to administer medical treatment at super specialty hospitals in mainland when referred by the Directorate of Health Services as is done in the case of BPL patient, a communication received here said.
