Port Blair, Jan 21: Port Blair, the capital town of Andaman and Nicobar Islands is presently struggling for revenue stamps for more than one month. The shortage has been posing difficulties for citizens as all important financial transactions require revenue stamps.
While lack of coordination is said to be the main reason behind this shortage, citizens condemned the Postal Department officials for alleged ill-planning of inventory of stamps.
When contacted, the Post Master of Port Blair Head Post Office told Andaman Sheekha that earlier revenue stamps were issued by DC office to Port Office but since last couple of months, Revenue Stamps were supplied by General Post Office at Mainland.
He said that for unknown reasons the supply was totally stopped since last one and half month, triggering shortage of revenue stamp in A & N Islands.
“We have now requested DC office to supply Revenue Stamps. Now from tomorrow Revenue Stamp will available at Head Post Office, Port Blair and later in all branch offices of Indian Post, across the Islands,” he said.
