Port Blair, Jan 20: Unnati working in partnership with Usha International Ltd. – a New Delhi based organization, in the area of skilling poor women with the objective of making them self-reliant and empowered. This is perused through unique Silai School model under the programme, 118 Silai Schools are running in A&N Islands and we are providing residential training curriculum and manual to Silai School teachers for running Silai School from their homes.
On 16-01-2019, Mr. Saikat Nasker Manager Usha International Ltd. Kolkata Region and Mr. C. Mohammed President Unnati visited Shaheed Dweep (Neil Island) and started 10 Satellite Silai Schools in presence of Mr. Dashrath Verma Up-Adhyaksh South Andaman as Chief Guest, Mr. Sukumar Das and Mr. Bimal Kumar Roy Ex-Zilla Parishad Members distributed Silai School signage board, advanced level sewing and embroidery course book and sewing machine service manual to selected 10 Silai School teachers for starting Silai Schools in the Island.
Mr. Saikat Nasker Manager Usha International said we are working with Unnati since 2012 and trained 1174 women and most of them adopted tailoring as self employment venture for earning their livelihood. He said the good work done by poor women would be covered by NDTV in March 2019 for which identification of beneficiaries also finalized. A participatory working was also conducted for clarification of doubts about running of Silai Schools.
Mr. Dasrath Verma Up-Adhyaksh highly appreciated the efforts of Unnati for empowering women through capacity building and skill development programme in tailoring and fashion designing with the support of Usha International Ltd, as said in a press release by Mr. C.
