Port Blair, Jan 18: A fire was reported from GB Pant Hospital this morning at around 9:25 AM, in which equipments in the blood bank (Blood Component Separation Unit) room no. 59, suffered damages.
As per reports, the fire service received information about the fire at around 9.25 AM and within minutes Fire Tenders reached the spot and within 9:40 AM the fire was brought under total control. According to fire brigade sources the cause of fire was short circuit on stabilizer. Fire tenders from Aberdeen bazaar reportedly reached the spot in no time and doused the fire by using Fire Extinguisher. There is no report of any injuries.
Eye witnesses told Andaman Sheekha that the incident may have taken an ugly shape but due to prompt response of Fire Services team, under leadership of Inspector Vishnoi the fire was brought under control very soon. Traffic police also showed prompt response in controlling the traffic flow around G B Pant Hospital.
