Port Blair, Jan 14: Relatives of Shanti (Name Change), a resident of Pahargaon, who allegedly delivered a stillborn through normal delivery at G B Pant Hospital today, alleged that doctors of G B Pant are responsible for the stillborn.
The relatives, alleged that last night when expecting mother was brought to G B Pant, after she complained about pain, the doctor told the family that situation is normal. Not only this earlier during all tests the family was informed that condition of mother and baby is good. Meanwhile the mother complained about regular pain.
Family members alleged that only after taking the mother inside Operation Theater this afternoon, they were informed about ‘stillborn’ baby. According to them Doctor told them that the baby had expired due to asphyxiation caused by umbilical cord.
Father of the baby told Andaman Sheekha that they fail to understand that when till last night Doctors were confident about normal delivery how this incident happened.
When contacted, the Director of Health Services, Dr. S P Burma told Andaman Sheekha that sometimes such cases can’t be detected through Ultra Sound test. “It’s a serious issue and we will do something about it,” the DHS said.
