Port Blair, Jan 13: Yet again crocodile have been sighted at a Ranchi Basti nallah of Tushnabad Village in South Andaman. Two years back one crocodile attack, in the same nallah had triggered a massive protest by villagers.
As per report yesterday villagers of Ranchi Basti, Tushnabad spotted a 2.5 meter long crocodile in the village nallah. The information was immediately passed to the Forest Department. Later following reports of spotting crocodile in the village nallah a team of Forest Department reached the village and installed cage and nets in the Nallah to catch and safely relocate the crocodile. A staff has also been deputed in the area to keep an eye over possible movement of crocodile in the area.
Two years back, on September 04, 2016 a group of angry villagers caught and killed a crocodile themselves after the crocodile had attacked and killed a 63 year old lady of Ranchi Basti.
Meanwhile, talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Anand Amritraj, a political leader of the area requested the wildlife team to catch the crocodile as soon as possible, so that no one else has to die in crocodile attack.
